About Gemstones

A Gemstone or simply called a gem is a crystal which is used in jewelry in cut form or polished form.It is also called as jewel,precious stone or semi precious stone.There are various types of gemstones available.If the gemstone is rarely available then it will be categorized as precious gemstone.Most gemstones are hard,but some are soft.
    To distinguish them there will be mainly two categories precious and semiprecious.Diamond,sapphire,ruby and emeralds goes into precious gemstones category.The remaining stones goes into semiprecious category.Pearl is also used in ornament jewelry.Nowadays people prefer gemstone gold jewelry over plain gold jewelry.
